About Us
Blackbird Wealth Management was established because we believe in real financial planning. That is, financial planning focused on helping you achieve your goals and ensuring your capital (money, time, energy) is aligned to what is important to you. We’re not just interested in money and investments, but how those things fit into and contribute to our clients’ lives.
Graham Cotter is our Director and Financial Adviser. Graham is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and holds a Master of Applied Finance.
While we are based in Wagga and the majority of our client meetings will be face-to-face in our office, we can also meet online or over the phone if required. Just get in touch to discuss your needs.
Our Process
1
Introductory phone call – a complimentary introductory chat to discuss your needs and our services.
2
Initial meeting – The initial meeting is an opportunity for us to meet each other and determine if we should work together. We both need to consider if our process and services are right for your needs. We will also discuss your current situation and work through what you would like to achieve.
3
Advice development – The next step will be to gather detailed financial and personal information from you. This will allow us to begin to analyse your current situation and assess the various options and strategies that might be available to assist you in achieving your goals.
4
Advice delivery – Our finalised advice will be documented and presented to you in a Statement of Advice. This document will outline all of our recommendations, as well as details of all products, fees, calculations, comparisons and alternatives that were considered. We also work with you to implement the recommendations we have made.
5
Ongoing advice and support – As life changes it is important to ensure your plan remains relevant and adjustments and changes are made. Ongoing reviews of your financial plan include adjusting strategies as needed based on changing circumstances, market conditions, and legislative changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of receiving advice and how do you charge?
As each client’s circumstances and needs are different, there is no set or standard cost for providing advice. We agree upfront on what the costs for service will be with each client individually. We provide initial advice and documentation, as well as ongoing advice services. As independent Advisers we do not receive commissions or charge asset-based fees.
I have an Industry Super Fund, can I receive advice on this?
Yes. As independent Advisers we are not restricted on the investments we can recommend. We work with a number of the largest super fund providers, including AustralianSuper, Aware Super, UniSuper, HESTA, Australian Retirement Trust and more.
Any product recommendations we make are based on you and your needs.
I have a defined benefit scheme, can I receive advice on this?
Yes. We have experience with both NSW state government and Commonwealth government defined benefit schemes, including SASS, SSS, CSS, PSS and MSBS.
Do you provide ongoing advice and support?
Yes. Financial planning is an ongoing process. As life changes it is important to ensure your plan remains relevant and adjustments and changes are made.
If we are a couple, do we both need to receive advice?
It is always best if couples receive advice together. Apart from the fact areas such as Centrelink require information on both members of a couple, we have a big focus on achieving your lifestyle goals and objectives. This is always more rewarding when everyone is involved.
I am already retired, can I receive advice?
Yes. We specialise in retirement advice. This includes people that are already retired and wanting assistance in managing their financial situation.
I am not looking at retirement yet, can I receive advice?
Although we specialise in retirement planning, we can also assist those not quite ready for that stage yet. Please book an initial call to discuss your needs and see if we can work together.
Less than 1% of Financial Advisers and Financial Planners in Australia are “Independent”. We are independent and proud of it.
This means we do not charge or receive commissions, asset-based fees or volume-based payments and we have no links to product manufacturers.
Receiving advice from an independent Financial Adviser means we are working for you and in your best interests only. It also means any fees for our services will be clear and agreed upon up front.
